Why owners look past Homebase
Most of Homebase's recent Trustpilot reviews are positive, and many thank a support rep by name. Of the 100 most recent (Jul 14 to Sep 30, 2026), 22 gave three stars or fewer. Those reviews come back to four problems.
The most common is the time clock and app: employees who can't clock in, a geofence that stops working, shifts that show up twice. Next is support that takes several calls or promised callbacks to resolve. Third is cost, from owners who expected the time clock to be free or who pay for features they never use. The last is contract terms: one unprompted reviewer was refused a prorated refund on an annual plan after the first 30 days.
“The app has been extremely glitchy with a lot of issues the part almost two weeks.”Krys Douglas, Trustpilot, Sep 2026
“During my first two calls, the representatives assured me they would call me back, but neither of them ever did.”New General, Trustpilot, Aug 2026
“Was not clear that time clock on a app was going to cost so much.”Jen, Trustpilot, Sep 2026
“We have more than 23 members so we do not qualify for the basic service.”Christine Gonzalves, Trustpilot, Jul 2026
Like for like, Homebase's invited Trustpilot reviews average 4.22 (93 reviews) and its unprompted ones 3.86 (7 reviews). Connecteam's reviews collected through a link it shares average 4.67 (49 reviews, Sep 21 to 29, 2026). Connecteam had only one unprompted review in that window, too few to compare with Homebase's seven.
Match the Homebase alternative to your reason for leaving
| Compared on | Best alternative | Check before switching |
|---|---|---|
| You need onboarding, e-sign, or HR without paying for All-in-One | Connecteam | Hubs are priced separately: $29 a month each on Basic for the first 30 users, billed yearly. E-sign starts on Advanced. |
| You want forms, checklists, or training in the same app | Connecteam | Admins describe a learning curve, and reviewers report upsell calls to higher tiers. |
| The time clock or app keeps glitching | Connecteam or Jibble | Connecteam's own reviews report app bugs and logouts too. Test the clock on your staff's phones during the 14-day trial. |
| You outgrew the free plan and only need a schedule | Sling | Free for up to 30 users, but the free plan has no time clock. |
| You run a restaurant and want tip pooling and payroll | 7shifts | Unprompted Trustpilot reviews average 1.16 (19 reviews), many about payroll and tips. |
| Support took several calls to fix a problem | No clear winner | Connecteam's support is chat, starting with an AI bot, with no phone line. Deputy's reviewers raise the same complaint. |
| You got locked into an annual plan | Pay monthly, wherever you go | Connecteam refunds annual plans only within 30 days (prorated) and monthly plans not at all. |

The 6 best Homebase alternatives
Connecteam
More than scheduling, flat price to 30 usersOn Trustpilot, reviews collected through a link each company shares average 4.67 for Connecteam (49 reviews, Sep 21 to 29, 2026) and 4.22 for Homebase (93 invited reviews, Jul 14 to Sep 30, 2026). Connecteam is free for up to 10 users with all three hubs. Past that, each hub costs $29 a month billed yearly for the first 30 users on Basic. Onboarding, documents with e-signature, forms, checklists, and training courses sit in its hubs, where Homebase keeps onboarding, e-sign, and HR on its $96 to $120 All-in-One plan. The weak spots show in its own reviews: features locked behind higher tiers, upsell calls, rising cost past 10 users, app bugs and logouts, and no built-in payroll or phone support.
Full Connecteam vs Homebase comparison →Sling
Free scheduling for up to 30 usersSling's free plan covers shift scheduling for up to 30 users, which fits a team that outgrew Homebase's 10-employee free tier and only needs a schedule. Premium is $1.70 per user a month billed yearly ($2 monthly) and adds the time clock and geofencing. Caveats: the free plan has no time clock, Sling is owned by Toast and leans toward restaurants, and its 100 newest Google Play reviews average 2.66 (Jun 29 to Sep 27, 2026).
Connecteam vs Sling →Jibble
Free time clock, unlimited usersIf the time clock is the part of Homebase that keeps failing you, Jibble's free plan covers clock-in from web, mobile, and kiosk, with GPS and facial recognition, for unlimited users. Its invited Trustpilot reviews average 4.55 (49 reviews, Jun 24 to Sep 30, 2026). Caveats: it has no team chat, its scheduling covers shifts and rosters only, and it no longer publishes paid-plan prices.
Connecteam vs Jibble →7shifts
Restaurants that want tips and payroll7shifts is built only for restaurants, with tip management, labor forecasting, and its own payroll. Its Essentials plan is $39.99 per location a month billed yearly, capped at 30 employees, per its own compare pages (prices marked subject to change). Caveats: its unprompted Trustpilot reviews average 1.16 (19 reviews), with complaints about payroll, tip pools, and billing, and its free plan was cut to 15 employees in 2025.
Connecteam vs 7shifts →Deputy
Multi-location labor planningDeputy suits multi-site teams that schedule to demand forecasts and labor budgets (Core plan and up). It starts at $5 per user a month billed yearly, with a 31-day trial and no card. Caveats: there is no free plan, monthly plans carry a $30 minimum, and its unprompted Trustpilot reviews average 1.25 (20 reviews), mostly about slow support and billing.
Deputy alternatives →When I Work
Simple per-user schedulingWhen I Work prices per user from $2.50 a month on Essentials, with scheduling, team messaging, and shift trades. Caveats: time tracking is a paid add-on (+$1.50 to +$2 per user), there is no public free plan, its pricing page does not say whether prices are the annual or monthly rate, and it points payroll to Rippling.

When to stay with Homebase
Stay if you have one location with more than 30 hourly employees. Homebase charges per location with unlimited employees, so Essentials at $24 a month billed yearly costs less than Connecteam's Operations hub at that size. Stay too if you want payroll inside your scheduling app: Homebase runs full-service US payroll as an add-on, and Connecteam only exports to payroll providers such as Gusto, QuickBooks, and ADP. Homebase also includes job posts and applicant tracking at no charge, and many of its reviewers praise support reps who call back quickly.
If you are leaving because Homebase puts onboarding, e-signature, and HR on All-in-One only, or because you want forms, checklists, and training alongside the schedule, Connecteam covers those in one app. See the full Connecteam vs Homebase comparison, its pricing breakdown, or what its users say.
See Connecteam pricingHow we sourced this
On September 30, 2026 we pulled Homebase's 100 most recent Trustpilot reviews (Jul 14 to Sep 30, 2026) and Connecteam's most recent Trustpilot reviews (Sep 21 to 29, 2026). Trustpilot labels how each review was collected. We counted reviews from a company's own review link or automatic invitation as invited and the rest as unprompted, and compare each group only with the same group. Connecteam's link-collected reviews carry Trustpilot's “Unprompted” label, so we count them as invited. These are recent samples, not whole-profile averages.
Prices come from each company's own pricing page as of 2026-09-30. Google Play figures come from the same scraper run on both apps. Quotes are verbatim, credited to the reviewer who wrote them. See our methodology and the Connecteam Trustpilot reviews.
