Small-business owners on Reddit split. Some call the free plan great and the app feature rich; others left over clunky reporting, upsell pressure, and support they describe as bots. Employees mention battery drain.

Connecteam - Too good to be true? (Small Business Plan)

So I've used connect for almost 2 years now as a smallish biz admin (20ish peeps give or take through the year). My takeaway has been net positive BUT we use it in specific ways: We use this app as a replacement for "Crew" (Square bought them out 2ish years ago then discontinued the app only to offer square for teams and raise the prices astronomicaly. Assholes.) I primarily use the app for scheduling (its way easier with the 2nd tiered paid version, saves me so much time if you have irregular shifts, but not needed!) We then also use it for: *group messages (don't have to share phone #!) *Update/email blasts, *HR style forms, *surveys, *reminders/ daily checkoff tasks, *events that enable rsvps, *quizes/training tools for new hires/brush ups And honestly so much more? This baby can hold so much stuff. I can't speak on the time tracker, though. We use square married into quickbooks for ease of payroll since it was already set up years back and it was easier to keep it that way. But I know it allows for cross compatibility with reporting software like intuit, just haven't bothered to. Shopping around 2 years ago for scheduling based apps, it seemed like the cream of the crop. Plus, their customer service has always been top tier whenever I've had a problem. Not sure if they still do this but when I signed up, we got assigned a rep and they regularly checked in and helped us get set up and the most out of the interface, and all without really upselling? And when there is an issue, they are quick to fix any bugs and listen to feedback (which is nice tbh).

Small business employee here, also. We went from paper forms texted in weekly to using Connecteam to track hours, a year or so ago. It’s a phone app, which does have website functionality as well. We have a fleet of drivers, though, so usage is primarily in the field via app. I’m not currently involved in payroll, so I’m not sure how straightforward the integration is, but sounds like there’s at least the option to download files that can be used to upload hours into QuickBooks Desktop. (We’re using QB Online). You can set the Connecteam system up to enable requests for time off, and from what I remember of setting up new employees…there is option to set default settings for various available defined hours (OT, sick time, etc), and defined roles. One point of note, though, if you do opt to check it out—if you want to be considerate of employees’ phone batteries & bills, you’ll need to configure against continually tracking location data and checking in. That was one of the biggest hurdles during adoption—that setting must have been on by default, and it was absolutely killing employees’ batteries and cell phone data usage. Edit: grammar

Feedback on Connecteam

I like it. Actually… it is feature rich. I am not even using all of the features. Just out of pure laziness. They have come a long way since their startup. They continue to develop. My only complaint is it not really being an American-based platform and customer service is pretty good and “somewhat” responsive…. They are not really in the state unless your company doesn’t mind you calling TelaViv. We actually broke molds and used some features that were not “built” for what we are using for but now they have made them more form fitted to us. Which is nice. Ask any questions you like.

Connecteam - Too good to be true? (Small Business Plan)

I used the small business free version (until I sold the business) and it was great for us. I didn't have any issues with the UX/UI. Yes I got some phone calls from sales reps but don't blame them if I'm using the free version. What was missing for you? I'm thinking of introducing connecteam to my new boss.

Connecteam is great and you can create as many forms as you want for support workers to fill out each shift. It has rosters, document library etc as well.

Connecteam vs Homebase vs Breakroom: Which Employee Communication App Wins for Frontline Teams?

Connecteam has zero humans in customer service. They’re all bots. I know this because I tested it. We like their clock-in features, but that’s absolutely it. The reporting is a mess, the splitting of scheduling and time clocks, as well as splitting the jobs and shifts, makes it complicated for no reason. My team hates when they have to add a shift or a job because it should automatically ally be tied together. You can’t pull or view certain pieces of information or your jobs and shifts, there’s no ability to add mileage and have it add to the payroll totals, you can’t even edit a manager note before approving an employee’s timesheet edits. So, each time an employee makes an adjustment, I have to approve it first, before I can add a comment (which sometimes happens to be that something is incorrect), which is very confusing to our team. That’s just a few things that have been obnoxious. We’re actively looking for better options.

Feedback on Connecteam

We are struggling with it. It has really terrible reporting features. There's some good parts to it. I find the overall interface easy to use as just a user, it's the reporting, and administrating it that I find frustrating. I also really dislike that they've made features and then months later taken them back.

Feedback on Connecteam

They created a feature where we could add Holiday time off in a bulk add feature. It lasted a few months and then they took it back. I’m told it was causing issues for other companies, but now we are adding holidays one by one to each employee and yikes! It’s added quite a bit of time to our process.

Connecteam - Too good to be true? (Small Business Plan)

We just dumped Connecteam because the UX/UI is irritating and unpleasant to use. We had roughly 25 people on it for about 5 months. It worked but was lacking features, felt like a burden to use, and was constantly trying to upsell. We're looking elsewhere.

For me once I clock in it seems start destroying my battery even when I fully close the app and turn off mobile data for it.
